The lightest component, the oil, migrates towards the center of the bowl.
A liquid seal in the bowl prevents oil from escaping through the water outlet.
The accumulated sludge and solid particles are removed from the bowl regularly by hand. The oil is then discharged from the separator through a separate outlet.
